Successful engagement with diverse communities

Recruitment often presents as a stumbling block for clinicians wishing to undertake research within culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, particularly where clinicians themselves come from a different background. Cultural sensitivity—genuine and tangible awareness and respect for members of the community, their beliefs and customs—is essential to successful engagement with CALD communities. In this video, members of South Western Sydney Local Health District who have successfully completed research in CALD populations talk about their experiences, and discuss how clinicians can demonstrate cultural sensitivity throughout the research process.
